Shot Notes

The Captain Cook Memorial Jet is located in the central basin of Lake Burley Griffin, in front of the National Capital Exhibition at Regatta Point. The jet sends water to a height of 147 metres, pumping it from the lake. The water leaves the nozzle at a speed of 260 kilometres an hour, discharging 500 litres per second and placing six tonnes of water is in the air at any point in time. On this day and at this time, with the wind and sun in the right places, the light played to produce a rainbow, at this angle showing a pennant on what could be taken to be a main sail for some ethereal Endeavour. PEN pals will know by now that the camera accurately captures challenging moments without argument.  Here in good light ISO 200, 1/500, f11 at 34mm.
