Shot Notes

The National Folk Festival roams broadly in building a program which attracts people from all over the globe and earned the organizers a 2009 Australian Tourism Award for Festivals and Events. Arts and crafts, movies, music and dance complete a rich tapestry of activities and events over 4 days at Easter in Canberra. This was a tricky shot. Taken from bright sunlight into a deeply shaded pavilion populated by a rapidly moving group of dazzling dancers, the chances of a useful shot were slim. However, the PEN was able to evocatively capture both the movement of the dance and the focused serenity of the dancer. Beware the quiet eye!
