Shot Notes

The dandelion hails from Europe and Asia and has been introduced to other temperate regions of the world, where it is considered a weed. However, the leaves and buds of the dandelion contain vitamins A, C and K as well as useful levels of calcium, potassium, iron and manganese and has been a traditional part of the Mediterranean, Chinese and Korean cuisine. This spectacular flower made it through to the parachute ball stage, without being sautéed in butter or deep fired in tempura batter. The flower looms large in this photo not just because I took the camera in close but because it was the size of tennis ball. I couldn’t resist putting this one up against the brilliant blue sky, in order to allow the PEN to bring out detail, which might have been otherwise lost.
