Shot Notes

This photo of my youngest son was taken spontaneously, as he made his way around a family gathering. The PEN is small enough not to intrude or signal its presence, allowing the opportunity to capture natural energy and emotion. The PEN is also fast enough to get in before older people have time to compose or younger ones have time to decompose, bringing attention to the camera and adding an artificial atmosphere to the moment. Here we are in shade and on the move, so ISO speed is set at 1600, f number at 5.6, shutter speed at 1/80 and focal length at 42mm. In this case, for a quick outcome, I let the camera make these choices from the iAUTO setting. Larrikins laughing, on both sides of the lense.
