Shot Notes

The ACT is enlightened community in some respects, taking the initiative in some public policy areas. This shot was taken from a public walkway under a bridge by a Woden Creek (which is more like a concrete storm water drain these days). The water in the photo is banked up from a dam created by a filtering grill, trapping plastic bags, bottles, shopping trolleys and other refuse. The graffiti in this location is legal. The ACT government provides sites fro community art including underpasses, toilets, dressing sheds in parks and ovals, tennis walls and privately owned buildings. This is not a pretty place, but the splash of colour was compelling. The PEN is working here in available light, with sharp daylight intruding from the right. This unit really does excel in low available light, and deals with stark contrasts very effectively. ISO 640, f5.6, 1/80 at 42mm.
